Waste to Landfill Collection Service

Your Red Lid Bin is for Waste to Landfill only. This bin is collected weekly with your FOGO Bin and alternating Recycling Bin. This bin is for most items that cannot be recycled or placed in your FOGO Bin. There are still some items that cannot be placed into this bin due to the environmental damage they can cause when landfilled. For information on what to do with problem wastes click here.

Council offers residents the choice of an 80L, 120L or 240L Waste to Landfill Bin to suit the needs of the resident.

The vehicle lifting capacity is a maximum of 80kg and any bin exceeding that limit cannot be emptied.

What you CAN place in your Waste to Landfill Bin:

  • Plastic Bags
  • Polystyrene Foam
  • Disposable Nappies
  • Crockery, Pyrex & Glassware
  • General Waste that cannot be recycled

These items are hazardous and MUST NOT be placed in any household bin:

  • Gas Bottles
  • Liquids of any kind
  • Chemicals, Paints & Oils
  • Household & Car Batteries
  • Mobile Phones & Devices
  • Fire Extinguishers
  • Ink Cartridges
  • Fluorescent Light Bulbs
  • Medical Waste & Sharps

Additional Bin

Residents who have excessive waste material and who already have a 240 Litre bin can apply for an additional Waste to Landfill Bin. Additional services can only be requested by the property owner and are levied through the rates system. For applicable fees click here. Resize your Residual Waste Bin

Property owners can request to resize their Waste to Landfill Bin. Please note a fee applies to upsize your bin (e.g. from an 80L to a 120L or 240L, or from a 120L to a 240L). For applicable fees to resize your bin click here
It is free for property owners to downsize their Waste to Landfill Bin (e.g from a 120L to an 80L or from a 240L to a 120L or 80L). Not only will you be sending less residual waste to landfill by downsizing, your Domestic Waste Management charge on your rates will also be reduced. To resize your Waste to Landfill Bin click here.

Bins must be placed out before 6:00 a.m. on your collection day and removed from the kerbside on the day, after they have been serviced
