Cancellation of Household Chemical CleanOut Event and Disruptions at the Community Recycling Centre
A recent fire at Cleanaway’s St Mary’s waste facility has affected the Household Chemical CleanOut events and services at Community Recycling Centres, which are run in partnership by councils and the NSW Environment Protection Authority.
As a result, the Wollongong Household Chemical CleanOut event, scheduled for March 23, 2025, at Fred Finch Park, has been cancelled. Additionally, the Wollongong Community Recycling Centre is currently experiencing disruptions. For more details, click here.
What should you do with your household problem waste?
In the meantime, residents are advised to store household problem waste in clearly labeled containers, keeping them in a cool, dry place out of reach of children and pets until services are restored. Please check with your local council before visiting a Community Recycling Centre or attending a Household Chemical CleanOut event.
