It’s time for a Chemical CleanOut! Drop off your household chemicals to dispose of them safely and for free.
Event details:
Where: JJ Kelly Park (Entrance from SpringHill Road, Wollongong Northbound)
When: Sunday 22nd March 2026 from 9:00am to 3:30pm
What you can drop off:
- Solvents and household cleaners
- Floor care products
- Ammonia-based cleaners
- Pesticides and herbicides
- Poisons
- Pool chemicals
- Hobby chemicals
- Motor fuels
- Fluorescent globes and tubes
- Acids and alkalis
- Smoke detectors
- Paint and paint-related products
- Gas bottles
- Fire extinguishers
- Car and household batteries
- Motor oils and cooking oils
- Vapes
You can also drop off items with the logos shown below:
Only household quantities (20L or 20kg) are accepted for all items other than paint. Up to 100L of paint in containers of no more than 20L each will also be accepted.
Please make sure you transport all items carefully. Follow these tips:
- Clearly label containers and make sure they’re well sealed. If you don’t know what’s inside a container, label it ‘unknown chemical’.
- Try to keep chemicals in their original containers
- Never mix chemicals as this can create dangerous reactions
- Wrap old or damaged containers in newspaper, a sturdy plastic bag, plastic container or tray to prevent leaks
- Keep chemicals away from other passengers in your car (e.g., in the boot).
How to Enter JJ Kelly Park for the Chemical CleanOut Event
From Springhill Road (northbound):
- Head north on Springhill Road (B65) and look for the entrance to JJ Kelly Park.
- Turn left into the carpark to access the event.
- Follow signs and staff directions once inside to safely drop off your items.
From Corrimal Street (Southbound):
- Turn right at the roundabout onto Swan Street
- Continue straight, then turn left at the roundabout onto Keira Street.
- Follow Keira Street, then take the left exit onto Springhill Road northbound.
- The entrance to JJ Kelly Park will be on the left, turn left into the carpark to access the event.
- Follow signs and staff directions once inside to safely drop off your items.
