Service Changes During the Festive Season
On behalf of Wollongong City Council and Remondis Harbour Cities, we wish you a happy and prosperous holiday season!
The bin schedule will be disrupted this holiday season with Christmas Day falling on a Thursday. Bins will not be collected on Christmas Day.
Please put your bins out as normal and they will be collected on the days following Christmas.
The Wollongong Waste and Resource Recovery Park (including the Community Recycling Centre) will also be closed on Christmas Day.
Cardboard and Recycling Drop off Events happening soon!
Wollongong City Council have organised Cardboard and Recycling Drop off Events across the Wollongong LGA.
These events are being held to assist residents in disposing of excess cardboard and co-mingle recyclables this holiday season. Please see below for more information on your closest drop-off location and the requirements.
Drop-off locations:
- Fred Finch Park, Berkeley (Entry from Bedford St) – Saturday, 27th December 2025, 7:30am -12:00pm
- Rex Jackson Park, Helensburgh (Entry from Walker St or Robertson St) – Monday, 29th December 2025, 7:30am – 12:00pm
- Ray Robinson Oval, Towradgi (Entry from Moray Rd) – Tuesday, 30th December, 7:30am – 12:00pm
What can you bring?
- Flattened cardboard
- Steel and tin cans
- Aluminium cans, trays and clean foil
- Rigid plastic containers, including lids
- Glass bottles and jars
- Milk and juice cartons
Attending these events
- Drive into the car park and queue in your vehicle for your turn to unload. We will try to include as many people as possible, but if queues become too long, some vehicles could be turned away.
- For everyone’s safety, please stay in your vehicle except when untying a load. Staff will be on hand to help.
- Recycling can be walked in, but it is preferred that you attend in a vehicle if possible. If you come on foot, please see the site supervisor for safe access.
- Please carry proof that you live in the Wollongong City Council area, such as a driver’s license.
The Community Recycling Centre (CRC) at Kembla Grange is also open every day except for Christmas, and accepts free drop-offs of additional cardboard and other recyclable household items.
